If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

A whopping 18,000 people drifted through the Business Design Centre for New Designers this month, myself included, to take a glimpse at what all of us graduates had to offer! The building became a hive of activity, lined with all manner of designs I soon found myself engrossed in a maze of other people’s imaginations and hard work. So much so that it seems I was too distracted (a common occurrence) to take any really good photos of my own work nestled amongst the other exhibitions!

Unfortunately my carelessness continued further that day and after a dramatic turn of events poor Marie number 5 found herself smashed and exposed outside of Euston station. Despite a particularly vulnerable train journey and much frantic clearing of glass she luckily arrived home in one piece. Phew! (Although she is still feeling quite flustered over the whole affair and has resigned herself to a life free of any perilous activities for the time being.)

Anyway, I'm excited to see what next years fresh set of graduates will bring to the show!

“Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Due to a series of fortunate adventures; this month seems to have inadvertently named itself “Alice month”! During an impromptu trip to Coventry I found myself wandering into the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, which happens to be the current home to a selection of overwhelmingly detailed illustrations by Sir John Tenniel for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there by Lewis Carroll.

Whilst simultaneously fuelling my love for all things fantasy based and transporting me back to my childhood, I happily absorbed myself in the fine detail and escaped for a few moments into Alice’s world of mad hatters, grinning cats, and tea parties!

I found myself tumbling further down the rabbit hole this week as I travelled over to previously unexplored Oxford, the birthplace of fictional Alice. After witnessing many curious and “curioser” objects held in Oxford University Museum of Natural History and the adjoining Pitt Rivers Museum which included; a selection of morbidly (but awesomely!) fascinating shrunken heads and the Oxford Dodo amongst many other alluring sights, my appetite for adventure had been truly satisfied.

The Marie's visit London

In preparation for my first (hopefully successful) exhibition as a graduate, I've been looking back at the progress of my final pieces, some of which are being included in the New Designers show held at the Business Design Centre in London tomorrow! I'm excited to see them surrounded by other amazing arty pieces from lots of recent graduates; it'll be a nice change from their usual home in my bedroom! Pictures of the event to follow soon.
